What does family medicine include?

Family medicine provides ongoing, comprehensive medical care to all members of a family. Dr. Dorio's experience allows him to diagnose any health concerns you may have. 

He helps educate you on preventive care and offers the proper screenings, such as physical exams and wellness visits, to maintain wellness.

During physical exams, Dr. Dorio reviews your medical history, administers immunizations if needed, and evaluates your overall health and wellness. This includes blood pressure and heart rate checks, and may also include specific testing if necessary, such as cholesterol tests. 

If you suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, mental health issues, or any other chronic medical issue, Dr. Dorio discusses your treatment plan with you during the appointment. He can then make adjustments to your treatment if needed.

Dr. Dorio can tailor physical exams for your needs. He also offers school physicals, sports participation physicals, Department of Transportation physicals, and preoperative physicals as needed. 

How often should I see my family medicine doctor?

Most patients, whether child or adult, should see their family doctor at least once a year for a physical exam and general wellness check. 

Dr. Dorio may recommend more frequent visits if you suffer from chronic health issues such as diabetes, dangerously high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. 

In addition to your physical exams, which usually happen when you’re physically well, you may need to see Dr. Dorio for new concerns and issues that develop between your regular visits. 

What if I have a sudden medical issue and need help?
